KOSMOLOGI QUR’ANI DALAM SURAH AL-NAḤL: ANALISIS TAFSIR ILMIAH PERSPEKTIF ZAGHLŪL AL-NAJJĀR

Abstract

Abstract: Modern ecological crises indicate that environmental problems are not merely technical in nature, but are also closely related to humanity’s worldview toward the universe. In this context, the Qur’an, through āyāt kawniyyah, namely verses that contain signs of God’s power through natural and cosmic phenomena, offers a cosmological perspective that views nature as an orderly, meaningful, and functional system in sustaining life. This study aims to analyze the concept of Qur’anic cosmology in Surah al-Naḥl through the scientific exegesis approach from the perspective of Zaghlūl al-Najjār. This research is a qualitative study employing a descriptive-analytical method through library research using a thematic interpretation (mawḍū‘ī) approach toward the cosmological verses in Surah al-Naḥl. The findings reveal that Qur’anic cosmology in Surah al-Naḥl represents the universe as an orderly, functional, and interconnected system encompassing three main dimensions: creation as the foundation of cosmic existence, the cosmic system as a manifestation of cosmic order, and natural phenomena as elements that sustain the continuity of life. Zaghlūl al-Najjār’s interpretation demonstrates that the scientific approach is applied selectively while still maintaining the theological dimension as the primary framework of meaning. This study further shows a dialogical relationship between revelation and science in Zaghlūl al-Najjār’s scientific exegesis, while also emphasizing the importance of Qur’anic cosmology in fostering ecological awareness and humanity’s ethical responsibility toward nature.
